Umbrella B.O.W Files: Zombies

Loading Data…

Classification

B.O.W. Model: “Zombie” (various types)
Base Organism: Human

A “zombie” is the direct result of a human being exposed to the t-virus, whether through direct infection or secondary exposure. (contaminated water supply or via bites and scratches from a virus carrier). The researchers at Umbrella Pharmaceutical, Inc. called them “zombies” due to their slow pace, mindless nature, similarity to the modern-day concept of a zombie in 20th century cinema, and the fact that they are walking dead corpses. Like their horror film counterparts, zombies spread the virus through biting and are walking corpses, due to the fact that individuals die before turning into zombies.

History

Discovered during the development stages of the t-virus in 1981 after the virus finally became stable enough to produce biological weapons for the staff at the Arklay Research Facility, zombies are a common sight during an outbreak of the t-virus due to the high population concentration of human beings in the contamination zones. Secondary infection leading to zombification is usually brought on by an infected water source or contact with virus-carrying rodents such as rats or mice, but there have also been records of the virus being carried by air depending on the strain of the t-virus in question. As well as this, creatures infected with the virus generally have the ability to infect others - a trait most exhibited in fact by zombies.

Whilst not directly an Umbrella Pharmaceutical B.O.W. in most cases, human experimentation has been vital in the development of viruses and many intentional zombies were created and disposed of to produce viable data. Due to the weapons development testing, these zombies are generally stronger than secondary infected specimens and are commonly dubbed “Naked Zombies”, due to their distinct lack of clothing.

Raccoon City Incident

The first public outbreak of zombies occurred in the American mid-western town of Raccoon City. Following the mansion incident, the viral outbreak which occurred at the Arklay Research Facility continued to slowly leak into the city, with creatures being reported and rumours of a “cannibal disease” running rampant. Finally, on September 23, 1998, a large quantity of the t-virus was leaked in the city sewers following a failed attempt by Umbrella Special Forces to retrieve the G-virus, and the rodent population quickly began spreading the infection throughout the city. The next day, the outbreak hit a fever-pitch at a local football game in the city. Spectators from both in and outside of the city were present, and a single zombie eventually sparked a “riot” at the game. From there, the infection spread like wildfire. Thus, the first mass public outbreak and appearance of zombies occurred. Seizing the opportunity, Umbrella deployed its U.B.C.S. force to combat the infected, with its Monitors conducting a full investigation on them. The city was quarantined by the National Guard and on October 1, the infection was eradicated after the US government launched an experimental warhead into the city.

Harvardville Incident
The second public outbreak of the t-virus also occurred in a mid-western town. In a demonstration by WilPharma chief researcher Frederic Downing to General Miguel Grandé, an Atmos Airlines plane was contaminated with the virus. Meanwhile, Downing’s “partner”, Curtis Miller, infected Harvardville Airport with the virus, leading to a sudden outbreak at 3:00pm. The infection was quickly contained, but Miller threatened to infect other major US cities if his demands were not met. Following the deployment of the Marines and the National Guard, the infection was eradicated completely until the Air Dome Research Facility became another contamination zone. This site was also cleansed however due to the facility’s internal anti-biohazard procedures.

Other isolated outbreaks occurred in other locations all over the world, such as Rockfort Island and the Umbrella Antarctic Base. The age of bioterrorism also opened the floodgates to countless other outbreaks throughout the globe, and others were caused accidentally such as the outbreak in India caused by the clinical testing conducted by WilPharma. Zombies are the most common by-product of a t-virus outbreak and as such, are dealt with carefully by state and local law enforcement and government agencies following the Raccoon City and Harvardville incidents. The B.S.A.A. maintains countermeasure instructions against zombies in paragraphs 13 to 17 of combat training file “t-15”.

Attributes
Once infected, humans will begin to mutate and several effects will take place. Firstly, the host’s skin tissue begins to rot and blood congeals over the skin. Secondly, muscle fiber deteriorates and the virus destroys the subject’s brain cells which contain memory completely, leaving zombies with no intelligence and shutting down all functions outside of the autonomic nervous system, leaving them with the complete paralysis of pain sensations. The virus causes a dramatic spike in metabolism, leaving it constantly activated. The result is a constant state of hunger and starvation, driving the zombie’s only remaining instinct; to eat. Another result of this enhanced metabolism is immense strength and vitality, making zombies generally stronger than normal people despite the decay in muscle tissue. This metabolism is also the cause of the itching sensation reported by infectees prior to death.

The most striking feature of a zombie is their insatiable hunger and ravenous behaviour, their primary method of attack is to feast upon the flesh of the living or dead. Human flesh is their primary food source, as it contains the high levels of energy necessary to sustain their tremendous metabolism. Highly acidic gastric acid is stored within the stomach in order to efficiently absorb consumed human flesh and can also be vomited to attack living humans.

They are virtually immortal, and can only be killed by being shot directly in the head. They are not deterred by inconsequential damage and will continue their search for food despite the loss of limbs or even the lower half of their body. Assuming they haven’t degraded too much, some zombies can manage to quickly shuffle towards their prey faster than normal. Depending on the background of the zombie, such as the trainees on Rockfort Island, there are variations in the level of degradation of muscle tissue. They are highly resistant to fire, although dousing them completely in fuel or kerosene and setting them alight can kill them outright.

“Crawling zombies” is the term commonly associated with zombies whose muscle tissue has degenerated to the point where they cannot move by themselves, and have resorted to crawling along the ground to try and reach prey. They are similar to zombies that have had their legs or mid-sections blown off, so they are classified together. “Lying zombies” on the other hand are zombies that have no energy and are on the verge of death. These zombies in particular are the ones likely to enter the “Licker” transformation. “Playing dead zombies” are similar to lying zombies, but are actually not on the verge of death, merely waiting for prey to pass by before striking.
Zombies also maintain some visage of their former life due to their physical features, such as uniform, indicating their former occupations and even level of muscle degradation which can indicate their former level of fitness.

Mutations

Crimson Head

If a zombie infected with a particular strain of the virus cultured from the “Crimson Head Prototype 1” is incapacitated through the likes of repeated gunfire, they will undergo the “V-ACT” process while in their incapacitated state and re-awaken as a “Crimson Head” some matter of time later. This mutation enhances them beyond their average abilities, making them far deadlier than normal. The only way to prevent this from occuring is by shooting them in the head, complete removal of the head or the complete incineration of the zombie.

Licker

Without an appropriate food source (human flesh), zombies will eventually resort to feasting on the flesh of other creatures and eventually, cannibalism. If this act does not sustain them or their food sources deplete, they will eventually die off, but there are a few whose cells will undergo an extreme mutation due to the t-virus. This mutation eventually leads to the birth of a new creature; the “Licker”. It is believed that this mutation has some connection to the V-ACT process, but with an alternative outcome due to the strain of the virus used.

Variations

Researcher Zombie
These zombies are originally Umbrella researchers studying viruses who have since become infected with the viruses themselves. Primarily, they are present in almost every Umbrella facility which has become subject to contamination of the virus. In particular, these include the Arklay Research Facility and Umbrella Antarctic Base.

Forest Zombie
During the Mansion Incident, S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team member Forest Speyer was attacked and subsequently infected with the t-virus, becoming a zombie soon after.

Edward Zombie
After being attacked by monsters in Raccoon Forest on July 23 and ending up in the Ecliptic Express, Edward Dewey of the S.T.A.R.S. Bravo team succumbed to the effects of the t-virus and became a zombie, attacking Rebecca Chambers.

Naked Zombie
The term attributed to zombies used for t-virus research experiments, first documented in the Arklay Research Facility. They are easily distinguished by their naked appearance and distinct lack of deterioration in comparison to other zombies.

Town Zombie
The term applied to the citizens of Raccoon City during the t-virus outbreak. This type also includes many from outside of the city as well, as many residents from another town were present in the city for a football game at the time of the outbreak.

Police Zombie
The term used to describe officers of the Raccoon City Police Department who were infected with the t-virus during the Raccoon City incident. Their numbers are plentiful due to even off-duty officers being mobilized to quell the riots and chaos in the city. They are easily distinguishable by their summer uniforms.

Female Zombie
The term used for any female that has become a zombie.

Improved Zombie
Stronger zombies that are the products of weapons development testing in the underground research facility beneath Raccoon City. Similar to naked zombies but with higher levels of visible degradation. They are the base test subjects for the “Evolved Licker” B.O.W.

Prisoner Zombie
Prisoners on Rockfort Island’s prison complex who were infected with the t-virus. They are distinguished from other zombies by their green prisoner uniforms and shaved heads.

  Graveyard Zombie
Originally prisoners that were declared dead on Rockfort Island. Following the t-virus outbreak, rainwater helped the virus penetrate deep into the soil underground where they were buried, infecting the corpses and allowing them to mutate.

Doctor Zombie
Originally the anatomist who worked in the medical room of Rockfort Island prison. This particular specimen is faster and stronger than most other zombie types, for reasons unknown.

Wesker Subordinate Zombie
Members of the Hive/Host Capture Force that were infected with the air-transmitted t-virus on Rockfort Island. They are distinguished by their all-black combat uniform and often night-vision goggles. Some also have explosives strapped to their bodies.

Trainee Zombie
Originally trainees of Umbrella’s Special Forces on Rockfort Island. Following the attack by H.C.F., they were infected with the air-transmitted t-virus or attacked by other infected creatures. They are generally stronger than normal zombies due to the lower level of muscle degradation thanks to their rigorous training.

Worker Zombie
Workers originally charged with sorting and storing cargo in the Umbrella Antarctic Base, infected after the planes from Rockfort Island crashed into the facility and leaked the t-virus.

Guard Zombie
Guards under the jurisdiction of the Ashford family that were infected with the t-virus on Rockfort Island. They provided security detail in the Ashford Palace and the prison complex.

Villager Zombie
These zombies were inhabitants of the waterside village, Mixcoatl. They were attacked and infected by the zombies and Piranha B.O.W. released by Javier.

Mercenary Zombie
Mercenaries originally hired by and working for Javier that were infected and turned into zombies. It’s believed that in his madness, Javier intentionally infected them and created them on purpose. They were originally part of Javier’s security force for his mansion. Some still carried explosives.

Javier Zombie
These zombies were originally people who stood against Javier that he captured and turned into zombies. He punished them and made examples of them by injecting them with the t-virus and having them serve as “guard dogs” for his mansion. Some were placed in an artificial state of suspended animation and administered a new t-virus variant capable of inducing the V-ACT process making them faster and more ferocious but lacking the claws present on a Crimson Head. They are generally kept on chains and shackles but when an enemy is in the vicinity, they are released. They were commonly utilized by Javier as weapons of terror.

Dam Worker Zombie
Workers who managed and maintained the Javier Dam that were infected after being washed away by the current after the water was released and subsequently attacked by Javier’s zombies.

NOTE: Zombies are not to be a confuse with the Las Plagas hosts.

EXCERPT FROM NE-BETA PARASITE LABORATORY TESTS (CODENAME: NE-β)

DAY 13

The parasite is now controlling the specimen!

We initially believed the parasite was feasting on the juices from
within the specimen’s carcass, sucking them up a number of
proboscis-like tubes. But as we continued the trials and extended the
duration periods the results were staggering.

In truth, the parasite was hacking straight into the infected’s central
nervous system, straight into its spinal column and controlling it
directly. The parasite effectively became it’s ‘brain’. Or, as one of my
colleagues put it, the parasite is driving the specimen like a
two-legged vehicle.

We have observed the parasitic couple nearly all day today, and there
seems to be no further developments.

My Resident Evil Creatures Sketch

Anyhow, As many of you may know. I am on the goal of becoming a graphic novelist/ cartoonist which I’m working on my first graphic novel and hopefully get it published in the next two years or so. My art or “style” is heavily influence by Roman Dirge, Johnen Vasquez (we both have the same last name, weird) and H.R. Giger. I drew these within 2 to 3 hours waiting for doctor’s appointment ( I was so bored). So drew these sketch or “concept art” just to explore how some of the Resident Evil creatures look like in my “world”. The Resident Evil series (the video games ) is probably my favorite series of video games, from amazing to bad. Many RE fan may recognize these horrible creatures from the PS1 version of Resident Evil or Resident Evil REmake for the Gamecube/Wii. These aren’t suppose to be perfect but well, Enjoy!

PS. Sorry for the shitty quality, my scanner is out of date so please forgive the blurriness.

EXCERPT FROM NE-BETA PARASITE LABORATORY TESTS (CODENAME: NE-β)

DAY 7

Experiments on the new parasite continue to uncover startling results.
Our initial tests proved that the parasite itself is incredibly weak.
Only a small amount of damage from a handgun, from a flamethrower and
even from cutting weapons can kill it quite easily. Although of course
it must be stated that the parasites were defenseless as we carried out
these tests. I for one would not like to take on a mobile parasite with
nothing but a knife.

However, today, events took a startling turn.

To determine the parasite’s effectiveness in combat, we introduced a
fully t-virus infected humanoid specimen into the test area to determine
if it had some unforeseen combat abilities.

As expected, the specimen did not attack the parasite (it is not
composed of ‘flesh’ after all). But, considering the parasite’s
previously exhibited aggression, we were surprised to note that it did
not attack the infected humanoid either.

Instead it seemed to ‘sample’ the air, before moving behind the
specimen. It then launched itself at the back of the specimen and with
one flick of its pincers decapitated it where it stood. Instead of
falling to the ground, it remained standing, swaying slowly from side to
side while the parasite seemed to be feasting from its neck stump.

Although this is extremely fascinating, we cannot currently explain this
behavior.

Trials will continue.

Umbrella B.O.W Files: Chimera

Classification

B.O.W. Model: “Chimera”
Base Organism: Human / Fly

The “Chimera” was a B.O.W. created by combining the genes of a human being with the genes of a fly, in a process similar to the creation of the Hunter.
History

The nature of the t-virus meant that the two seemingly incompatible species were successfully bonded, resulting in a grotesque organism. The creature was one of the many subjects created in the Arklay Laboratory, and was a relatively successful attempt at utilizing genetic engineering in the process of B.O.W. development.

The project was cancelled due to the creature’s low intelligence (equal to that of an insect), weak physical structure and uncontrollable aggression. Despite the initial cancellation, mass-production was commenced following the Raccoon City disaster and the Chimera, due to its relatively low production cost and medium effectiveness as a B.O.W., was sold to anyone willing to buy Umbrella’s bio-weapons, such as terrorists and rogue states. They were stored at the Umbrella Caucasus Laboratory.

Attributes

The grotesque appearance of the Chimera is known to invoke a sense of fear and cause severe psychological damage to individuals who witness it. The body cavity of the Chimera is riddled with maggots, which can drop from the main organism and develop into adult Chimera over a period of time. While the Chimera does indeed possess wings, they have not grown sufficiently to allow flight. Due to the combination of human and fly genomes, the Chimera’s physical structure is made up of a nimble skeleton and musculature, making it extremely agile and able to manoeuvre through the tightest of spaces such as vents. This is compounded by an exoskeleton, however, it is relatively weak and provides only minor defense from small arms fire. The Chimera is extremely aggressive but due to its intelligence, it is limited to only set attack patterns limiting its use as a weapon. It prefers to nest in narrow spaces such as air ducts, lying in wait for prey. When attacking, the creature emits a disconcerting noise that confuses prey and provokes fear.

A Chimera

Etymology

This particular B.O.W. is named after the monstrous Chimera from Greek mythology. The Chimera was a monstrous fire-breathing creature of Lycia in Asia Minor, composed of the parts of multiple animals. The term chimera has also come to mean hard to believe or difficult to understand. The term is also more commonly used to refer to any creature featuring the genetic material of another creature

Psychological Report: Umbrella Employee: Scientists: William Birkin

Date:
Subject: Birkin, William
Closing Comments
Birkin continues to exhibit a strange mixture of mania and extreme reserve. Watching him talk about his work is like watching an internal battle take place as one part of him wants to dazzle with the detail and scale, whilst the other wants to keep it all hidden within.
His obsessive talk of ‘the future’ is worrying as well. He refuses to provide any real information or idea of what he believes this future will hold for him, and yet… he also seems to see this future as a truly great place for him and his family.
He is incredibly tired. His work ethic is commendable – but how long can he work at this pace before mistakes are made? The fact that he became very agitated when questioned about the past is a sign of this fatigue – particularly the conversation relating to the local police force.
In the opinion of this department, Umbrella should continue to keep an extremely close eye on Dr. William Birkin and ensure that his psychological evaluations take place at much more regular intervals. Our suggestion is to schedule a new evaluation next month. Perhaps things will have settled down a little by then.

Secret Umbrella Empolyee Report

                                                                Decemeber 13, 2010

After the fall of the Umbrella facility in Russia, many believe that was the end for Umbrella… hehe, they were wrong. Albert Wesker may have manage to erased the memories of the Red Queen, but I manage to get hold of the back files for the Red Queens. Hmph, besides I’m the one who programmed her in the first place. In linger throughout the world collecting the left over data from the abandon Umbrella facilities around the world and living a pretty “normal” life. In 2009, Chris Redfield and his allies manage to destory Albert Wesker and his plans somewhere in Africa. Wesker’ s creation was amazing.. the Uroboro virus Wesker had created from Progenitor virus. Pity, Wesker failed and he is declared dead… Heh… I don’t believe that. All I have to say is that Tricell failed to cover up their data. I see they experimented on the Lickers .. known as Licker β. Interesting I must say, though I do see alot of fawls with the B.O.W. As I linger silently, living here an apartment somewhere in New York City. I shall bring back Umbrella. If anyone is reading this… Umbrella is not dead. I shall reborn it and it shall be new again… Only the Red Queen knows of my identity and i shall remain that way. I must call in the former researchers and U.S.S soon… I leave this as it is as of I have some exracting to do.

 Umbrella will live on....

Umbrella B.O.W Files: MA-121 Hunter α

Loading data…

 Classification
B.O.W. Model: “MA-121 Hunter α”Base Organism: Human / Reptile

TraitsHeight: 130 cm [standing: 163 cm]
Width: 95 cm

Dev. code: “MA-120”. The Hunter was the first battle-type B.O.W. to be developed, and the primary product of Umbrella Corporation on the B.O.W. market. The Hunter is developed from a fertilized human egg transfected with reptilian genetic material and infected with the t-Virus. Based on genetic engineering techniques, the t-Virus itself is likely the vector used to introduce reptilian genes into the human egg. The resulting creature is a frightening cross between human and reptile with exemplary combat abilities and high intelligence. Having many different types, models and subspecies, the Hunter is a representative model of a successful B.O.W. experiment which caters to both cost and performance. It was one of the the main B.O.W. products of the Umbrella Corporation on the B.O.W. market for many years until it was replaced by subsequent improved models, and later with the Anubis after research data was leaked out to a rival company.
 History
Deviating from the intentions of Ozwell E. Spencer, the Hunter was first developed in 1981 by Dr. William Birkin at the Arklay Laboratory. The initial goals of the project were to develop a “Fighting Living Biological Weapon”, which could eliminate all human targets within an operation area such as those wearing body armor, equipped with biological warfare suits or those who escape infection from the t-Virus. During the early stage of its design, the concept was; “A biological weapon which possesses high movement ability and can hunt and annihilate the target effectively, possesses a certain level of intelligence to carry out orders, and holds extremely high aggression, agility and jumping capabilities”. Initially, experiments were suspended in order to protect the specimens from the out-of-control Birkin. However, following the reported death of Alexia Ashford, the experiments resumed.
Following the first actual combat observations of the B.O.W., it was finally given its official name; the “Hunter”. Some specimens were kept in the Umbrella Research Center in a B.O.W. combat training arena, where they saw extensive action. After more than a decade of research and development and many successive improvements, the Hunter finally reached the research team’s goal of a “Mass Production B.O.W.”, and it was completed, mass-produced and sold under the MA-121 code number and dubbed “Hunter α”.
Following the successful evaluation of the Hunter MA-120, Umbrella began mass production under the “MA-121” code number. Live field combat data against actual highly trained soldiers was acquired at the Arklay Laboratory on July 24, 1998. This test provided Umbrella with a large volume of data which the company’s branches utilized in order to develop new and better Hunter types. The α model itself was also re-developed with enhanced performance, with an improved type produced on Sheena Island.
The α model proved influential in the future development of the Hunter, including the creation of the improved Hunter R, Hunter β and Hunter γ models. Independent Hunter types were also developed by The 3rd Organization, thanks to the research data and embryonic samples stolen by Albert Wesker, producing results such as the Hunter II and Sweeper sub-species.
Attributes
The α model’s appearance is that of the original Hunter model, a humanoid reptile, with green scales covering it’s entire body. It brandishes large claws on each arm which it uses as its main attack method. They possess unmatched speed, agility, attack power and the ability to adhere to simple commands, branding them a success and ensuring Umbrella’s continuous interest in the B.O.W. especially due to its relative low cost and high effectiveness.

Nemesis wakes...

Umbrella Files: Transcription of conversation with ex Umbrella employee

I won’t give you any of my details. I don’t trust anybody anymore. They have their hooks into everything and everybody. They’re that powerful. I was on the inside, I saw the influence, the power, the control they have. They’re not a company, they’re the equivalent of a government. What they say goes.

I used to work in the labs below the mansion... but I saw things, things I’ll never forget. I’m a bio-engineer and was originally employed to work in the renewable bio-energy division. It wasn’t long though until I was moved from there to a special projects division where we were briefed on something that would change me forever.

We were told that we were developing a material that would help to harness the power produced by bio- electric generators. Apparently these next-gen experimental generators would change the way power was produced in the poorest regions of the world, but there was a problem with power surges which were blowing the systems too regularly for them to be viable. My team’s role was to develop a cover which would absorb this power safely and limit the output of the generators.

That was the story. And to some extent it was true.

I should have realized that we weren’t being told the whole truth. We never even got to see one of these experimental generators – we were given the data and worked theoretically for weeks, before we were finally shown a small-scale example of the kind of generator they were talking about.

Even now, months later, I find it hard to describe the horror I felt as I looked at the poor animal hooked up with wires, diodes, drips and other connections I couldn’t even hope to understand. It was obviously a dog – or had been – like a police dog. But this dog was quite obviously pulsating… the things being
pumped into it were powering it, and sending it wild. Thank god it was secured to the floor, because the look in its eye made it perfectly clear that this was a killer and it wanted to get at all of us.

As I watched, I swear I could see its skin sparking as its muscles bunched and released. It let out a low growl and some kind of slime came out of its mouth, a lurid green, acrid slime that stank horribly.

And this was to be the kind of generator people would have in their homes? The lead scientist laughed and assured us that of course it wasn’t. This was a generator that used the same bio-organic principles, but in a much more manageable form. It was easier to use a rabid dog that was going to be put down, than to build and experiment on the kind of generator Umbrella was looking to create in the long run. And anyway the lead scientist finished, that really wasn’t my concern.

It felt all wrong to me, but I had a job to do, and although it seemed cruel, the benefits of the perfected generator would far outweigh the suffering of this animal.

In hindsight, I should have walked out there and then. But no, stupidly I looked blindly past the wrongness of it and began working on this material that would contain the power this beast was generating. I never even thought to question what would power the real generators. I suppose I just imagined it would be some bio-engineered fuel that another team was developing.

Again, that was partly true.

And so after several weeks, I’d helped develop a material – a bio-electric polymer which, if we wrapped the ‘generator’ in it, severely limited its power leakages. We measured the current that flowed across the poor animal’s skin both before the application of the material and after and found the power had dropped down to about 20% of its previous levels – well within the targets we had been set.

When wrapped in the material, the flesh (it could hardly be called a dog any more) would even respond to simple commands. It was bolted to the floor so it couldn’t move, but it would cock its head and listen if we spoke to it, whereas before we’d been unable to communicate with it – it was too busy trying to tear us apart with its foul jaws!

So that was it… mission accomplished. Or so I thought. A few months later I hadn’t heard any further news about the development of these generators, or indeed the power limiting material. When I asked about them, I was told that plans were already in place to get me involved with the next step of a similar project. Within a week I was flown to Europe to help a team there work on a very special, top secret project. I was given no more information, only that my background and specialist knowledge would help the team to even greater success.

I thought the dog experiment was bad. My first day at work in Europe and I witnessed a condemned man being ‘infected’ with a parasite, the NE-alpha parasite which had just been discovered. I can’t even begin to tell you how sickened, disgusted and repulsed I was at this. What the hell was I doing there? What had this to do with anything that could help anyone anywhere?

I soon received my answer – I was witnessing what was at that stage named the Nemesis project, and I later realized I had been present at the birth of what is now known as the T02. Apparently this was to be a ‘super soldier’ that Umbrella could use to carry out orders that normal soldiers could not. Umbrella had suddenly revealed to me exactly what it was all about – it was the complete antithesis of the company I thought I’d joined.

They were dealing in soldiers, not solutions; death, not life. I could see this immediately, but they still persisted in their charade, that this super soldier would in fact bring peace wherever it was deployed, and that its main duties would probably be to help out in disaster zones by helping to find and dig out survivors of earthquakes, floods and the like. One look at this abomination, which was becoming more powerful by the day, more hulking, more extreme and I KNEW Nemesis wasn’t a glorified rescue dog… it was an… unholy beast.

I vividly remember seeing the abomination, which no longer resembled a human, climb to its feet one morning. The floor of the cell literally cracked as this lumbering creature planted its unthinkable weight onto its huge jackboots – boots that were at least twice the size of my own shoes.

As it stood, I could see its eyes – stark and white, with no pupil - and I could swear for a moment it was looking at me, trying to understand what was happening. There was obviously still something of the condemned man left inside that now grossly swollen head. Veins pulsed and throbbed beneath skin that now had a grayish, sickly tinge as Nemesis’ lips pulled back from his teeth in a snarl.

Its arms bunched and relaxed, and even through its thick leather coat I could see enormous muscles tensing not just on its arms, but also across its barrel chest. The creature looked down at itself and let out the most horrendous, blood-chilling roar I have ever heard.

I knew then that we’d created a monster.

My work was very limited on the project at first, partly by choice and partly because it appeared my specialty wasn’t needed. They’d shipped me over to create a power limiter for the Nemesis – but as tests continued, we soon realized that with the NE-alpha Parasite controlling the host, it still retained some semblance of intelligence which we thought would ensure it wouldn’t run amok and could focus on its mission.

As the creature grew, the team began to suspect that it had the intelligence to use tools. Now here would have been a chance to show that T02 was to be used for good. But no, instead of seeing how he would handle construction or rescue tools, the team set about seeing which weapons Nemesis could wield.

The tests did not go quite as planned I’m happy to say (although I hate myself for admitting that I took pleasure in the deaths of some of the team), with the rocket launcher training proving particularly problematic – maybe not a surprise considering the background of the original host!

It was here that I had to contribute most to the project – and in fact this was a role I relished as I had to modify my power limiter material to work as an intelligence inhibitor, to make the T02 easier to control and manage. I saw this as my opportunity to severely weaken the beast – to try and make it as ineffectual as possible. Perhaps to even kill the project by reducing Nemesis to a blubbering wreck.

But I underestimated the strength, resilience, stamina and will of the creature. I set out to fry the intelligence out of its skull. It’s fair to say I hardly even dented it – in fact, I think my work actually made the Nemesis more effective. I believe I handed Umbrella the controllable creature they always wanted.

You may wonder why I was still on the project at all. Why I hadn’t left Umbrella long ago. As you know my friend, Umbrella makes it very hard for you to leave once you’ve discovered certain things… they take steps to ensure you stay loyal. Or out of the picture permanently.

The more time I spent in Europe on this project, the more I learned about Umbrella and the more I realized what an idiot I’d been. The dog ‘generator’, the limiter material, Nemesis, B.O.W.s and a whole host of things I’d rather forget. I learned that the Nemesis was based on an American project (which I’d also unwittingly contributed to) focused on developing Tyrants. I found out that ALL of my work had been used to develop weapons. I realized that I had to get out.

So I disappeared – of my own volition rather than them making me disappear.

I’m telling you this so you can warn people. They’re not going to sit on T02 for long. They’re itching to use it in a combat situation, I only hope that that situation never presents itself.

Umbrella Security Service Profile: Psychological Report: HUNK

Subject name: HUNK
Subject occupation: USS operative

Reason for report:

HUNK has recently seen heavy action and carried out a number of relatively intense operations yet has shown no signs of stress or any normal emotional response for that matter. Our sessions were to ascertain whether HUNK has sustained any long-term, hidden psychological damage as a result of his participation in these operations.

First impressions:

My first impressions of HUNK were of a man incredibly committed to his work. In fact, in all my conversations with him, he never once suggested that his life contained anything other than his duties as a member of USS. This however was not seen as a negative – HUNK was not complaining – if anything it showed that HUNK was not interested in anything which did not relate to life as a member of USS.

It’s hard in fact to imagine HUNK complaining about anything. He is very much a product of his profession in that he is a man who follows orders to the letter – with no regard to his own safety, or to the consequences of his actions.

It’s actually quite a task to get HUNK to speak about many things in great detail – and virtually impossible to get him to talk about himself. Even after several sessions, I am still in the dark about most of his background – his family, friends (I’m almost certain HUNK would see the whole concept of ‘friends’ as laughable) or even relationships (the name Bella seems to have some resonance with him although I’m yet to ascertain what the relationship is exactly) are a closed door.

With any other subject I would suggest that I need more time to break through the resistance, to really get through to the inner HUNK – but it’s apparent to me that HUNK is not offering any resistance. It’s almost as if he’s wiped those parts of his life from his memory. This could well be a method he’s developed to protect himself from the horrors he’s seen – to separate the human side of HUNK from the soldier side. The problem is, I think the soldier side is now all there is to him. My fear is that the human side of HUNK is now lost forever.

As a psychologist, this is a fascinating study. I should imagine that for a USS commander, HUNK is the ideal soldier – almost the super soldier of legend. He seems to have no morals or reservations, no fear and no apparent desire to get out and return to an individual life at all.

HUNK is at his most animated when t@lking about action he has seen. But even here, he is not try#ng to impr6ss, he merely r??ate$ the action that took place.

The incident we’ll come to in more detail shortly demonstrates that his cold-hearted, detached persona is not an act, but s#@ethi?? that is n&^ p@*( of him. It is this that ??@%^& ###.. tui luwl +%•ª ©∆ further study if requi€#.

Umbrella Security Service Psychological Profile: Wolfpack: Vector

Real name: unknown
Age: early 30s
Nationality: Japanese
Blood type: O+
Team role: Recon

Background

Little is known about Vector’s background, other than he has obviously trained with Japanese masters as his martial artistry is impressive. His movements are instinctive and smooth – this is in complete contrast to when Vector is at rest, standing as motionless as a statue.

He has spent time training directly under our own USS Alpha Team leader, HUNK per his request. Both share a mutual respect for the other’s abilities – and have an ice-cold disregard for anyone they consider inferior.

Vector has been assigned to USS Delta Team where HUNK’s influence will live on. Vector has indicated he would like to continue serving with HUNK but for now the organization is better served with them on different teams. Perhaps the occasion will arise when they will work together again.

Specialist skills and equipment:

Stealth Run

Vector has unmatched speed on the battlefield and nearly silent footsteps.

Detection Avoidance

Like a ghost, he avoids detection on enemies’ mini-maps.

Motion Detector

Sticks to surfaces and reveals all enemies within a specified radius and can potentially stun them.

Mimicry

Vector uses this skill to physically transform himself into another soldier to confuse his enemies.

Active Camouflage

Used to cloak himself while infiltrating enemy ranks and eliminating targets without detection.

Umbrella Security Service Psychological Profile: Wolfpack: Four Eyes

Real name: Christine YamataAge: 28
Nationality: Japanese American

Blood type: A-
Team role: Scientist

Background

Four Eyes has been dedicated to science since she was a child – as a result she did not develop the social skills needed to operate successfully in later life. She is detached from normal human emotions, seeing people merely as breeding grounds for her singular love: virology.

This particular branch of science is the sole reason that she is part of the USS. Her motivation is that this is the best place for her not only to study some of the deadliest outbreaks in the world, but to experiment with some of Umbrella’s own cutting edge viral breakthroughs.

She has no compunction when it comes to gathering and experimenting on live human subjects and on many missions she has been discovered experimenting on the wounded, and often on captives. This has occasionally proven to be detrimental to the ongoing mission.

However, her practical knowledge of virology use in the field is unparalleled.

Specialist skills and equipment:

Biometric Vision

Four Eyes can instantly spot infected specimens and identify their weak points.

Antiviral Proficiency

Always seems to have an anti-viral spray with her, and can carry more than most.

Induced Infection

Can use a hypo gun to infect soldiers or turn zombies into crimson heads.

Attraction Pheromone

Gas-filled vials she uses to attract T-Virus-infected enemies.

Program Infected
Four Eyes can take control of an infected enemy for a short amount of time if she injects them with this hypo gun.

Umbrella Security Service Psychological Profile: Wolfpack: Bertha

Real name: Michaela Heinzwaffen

Age: 34
Nationality: German
Blood type: B+
Team role: Medic

Background

Bertha is an excellent medic, dedicated to healing and keeping the human body working to its maximum potential. Her talent in this area overshadows the fact that she also has an extreme lack of bedside manner; it often seems it is her mission to terrify the person she is working on by detailing exactly how much pain they can expect to experience. This is a particularly pertinent point as Bertha very rarely uses anesthetic.

Her approach makes her completely unsuitable for work in a civilian role, but an excellent choice as the Wolfpack field medic where her toughness, and lack of sensitivity and sentimentality make her extremely effective.

Bertha also contracts with anyone willing to pay as a professional torturer. Just as effective at causing pain as she is at healing, she uses her extensive knowledge of the human body to bring her subjects to the brink of death and back again over and over until she gets the information she wants. Her personal work is also a vast source of top secret and back channel information for us which should not be discounted.

Specialist skills and equipment:

Field Medic

Her skill means she can restore a huge amount of health with healing items.

First Aid Proficiency

Bertha always seems to have at least one first aid spray with her – and can carry more than other soldiers with ease.

Stimpack

Bertha can improve the accuracy, movement and reload speed of any soldier, as well as reduce weapon recoil by using these hypo guns.

Neutralize Infection

A hypo gun to cure infection on Bertha or her teammates – has been known to inflict damage on the infected.

Painkiller
A hypo gun to reduce the amount of damage she or a teammate receives.
