EXCERPT FROM NE-BETA PARASITE LABORATORY TESTS (CODENAME: NE-Β)

DAY 36

I will be taking over this record from today as the Doctor was
unfortunately killed this morning.
The parasite and specimen itself were finally killed today as well. The
method was simple: whilst it fed on a fresh body (the unfortunate
Doctor), we attacked the parasite itself from behind. Concentrated fire
killed it, at which point the exhausted specimen body was also
destroyed.
Obviously this is just the start of our studies.

Weight: 54.3 kg
Blood Type: Unknown
Nationality: British

Alexia Ashford was a brilliant scientist and the younger twin sister of Alfred Ashford and the successful result of the "CODE:Veronica Project" initiated by Alexander Ashford. She was a clone of Veronica Ashford and considered to be her reincarnation, inheriting her beauty and even surpassing her in intelligence, factors which reminded others of Veronica. To others, she is known as the creator of the t-Veronica virus. As a result of her artificial birth Alexia was actually born with a cold and callous personality and displayed very little humanity, caring only for her own prosperity and the realization of her ambitions.

History

Conception and Early Life (1971-1981)

Born after her older twin brother Alfred in 1971. She was created by using Veronica's genetic material extracted from her preserved mummified body located in the Ashford manor in England. The inherited gene which determined her intelligence was artificially adjusted by Alexander to display the maximum level of intelligence. The genetic material was then implanted into a mature oocyte by Alexander and inserted into a surrogate mother. His own genetics were never incorporated during the process, meaning that Alexia and Alfred were not really his own children.

From a very early age, Alexia had unsurpassed intelligence that easily classified her as a genius. She spent her early childhood living in the underground laboratory beneath the South Pole Base with her brother Alfred, who adored her. Alexia on the other hand treated Alfred as a master would a slave. She was employed by the Umbrella Corporation as chief researcher of the company's laboratory in Germany at the age of 9. On July 27, 1981, at  the age of 10, Alexia graduated from a famous university with the honor of being valedictorian. She was once again greeted with open arms by Umbrella and offered a position as chief researcher at the Umbrella South Pole Base where Alexander was director. Accepting the position, Alexia surprised the other Umbrella researchers as she began accelerating the Ashford family's research into the t-virus while also conducting other research into a different virus.
t-Veronica Virus (1981-1983)

During her research, Alexia had discovered the remains of an ancient virus in the DNA of a queen ant. By combining this DNA harboring the ancient virus with the Progenitor virus and incorporating plant DNA, Alexia succeeded in developing a brand new artificial viral strain which she named the "t-Veronica virus". From the outset, Alexia cared only for her own prosperity and had no intention of restoring the glory of the Ashford family, which was the purpose behind her creation. Following the creation of the new virus, Alexia dedicated most of her research to ants, whose ecosystem seemed ideal as she began harvesting plans to make the world reflect this ecosystem on a global scale, with herself as the "queen ant". During her experiments, she administered the premature virus to ants and eventually caused the creation of a giant plant creature known as the "Alexia Pod". The "Queen" created with the virus would be able to control subordinate creatures infected with the virus, forming a "Veronica Ecosystem" resembling an anthill which Alexia sought to be the queen of.

In early 1983 as her research reached a crucial stage, she discovered the secret behind her birth that was orchestrated by her incompetent "father". On March 3, she then used Alexander as the first human test subject for the t-Veronica virus, and noted how it caused a rapid change in his cells and caused a serious decay of his brain cells and body flesh. The experiment was a failure and the twins sealed Alexander in an underground dungeon cell beneath the South Pole Base, but the experiment opened new avenues for Alexia's research. 5 She needed a way to control the virus to achieve her goal. She discovered that the virus could be "controlled" by allowing to adapt to the host's body via cryogenically freezing the host. Alexia decided to use herself as the test subject and injected the virus into her own body, freezing herself for 15 years in order to allow her body to adapt to her body. She entrusted the protection of her capsule to Alfred. 6 Her reference to Alfred as a soldier ant was one of the causes of his infatuation with military elements. She was announced to have died during an accident during an experiment with the t-Veronica virus.
Awakening (Dec., 28, 1998)

Alexia was re-awakened 15 years later, right before the death of her brother Alfred. As her body had perfectly fused with the t-Veronica virus, she retained her intelligence and reasoning ability and was completely without harmful mutation. As the "queen ant" of the t-Veronica ecosystem, Alexia had a symbiotic relationship with the Alexia Pod creature, which was now controlled by her and which would act only under the orders of its master, thus Alexia was able to control the entire South Pole facility through its tentacles which were able to spread and come out anywhere from the ground. Alexia also had the ability of evolution, after fusing with the pod, she could brood and release numbers of soldier ants and other unknown organisms which were her "babies". When the bottom base of the pod received heavy damage, Alexia would fly to the sky and mutate into a 3rd form.

Alexia attacked the snow mobile used by Claire Redfield and Steve Burnside, preventing their escape and preparing to use them as test subjects with the t-Veronica virus extracted from her body post-cold sleep (known as the "t-Alexia" strain). While Claire was saved by Chris Redfield, Steve was injected with the refined virus and transformed into a gruesome monster. Shortly thereafter, Alexia was confronted by Albert Wesker who sought a sample of the virus from her body. Alexia mutated, combusting into flames, and attacked Wesker. Despite the almost even match between the two, Wesker opted to use Chris to go into combat against Alexia. While Alexia was defeated by Chris, she stood up once more.

Finally, Alexia cornered the Redfield siblings, and directly entered combat with Chris who managed to persevere through her numerous mutations. Finally, Alexia was destroyed with the use of the Linear Launcher developed by Alexander.

Mutations

ALEXIA FIRST FORM
The initial mutated form after the long-term virus fusion, the power of the t-Veronica virus was completely unleashed. The blood in her body began to burn when it came into contact with air and turned into flames. Except for the left side of her face and a small part of her body, a special botanic skin was covering Alexia. This skin held extreme hardness; most gun fire could not harm her at all.

ALEXIA SECOND FORM

The form after fusing with the Alexia Pod, a large oviduct was at the bottom of the pod. Though she could not move, she used the tentacles, soldier ants and her "babies" released from the oviduct to attack her enemies.

ALEXIA THIRD FORM

The form after pulling the oviduct out of the pod, she now had the ability to fly. In this form, Alexia was able to move very fast and used her blood fire to attack. Although she represented a queen ant, this form actually closely resembled a dragonfly.

EXCERPT FROM NE-BETA PARASITE LABORATORY TESTS (CODENAME: NE-Β)

DAY 28

The more the NE-Beta Parasite is studied, the more impressive it becomes
on every level. Today showed that the parasite is doing much more than
just ‘driving’ the specimen – it has made it much tougher than it ever
was before.

We decided on a course of action to remove the parasite from the zombie.
We believed the most obvious course was to attempt to destroy the
zombie’s legs, leaving the parasite host with no method of locomotion.

It soon became clear however that the specimen was now almost completely
impervious to damage! Small arms fire, machine guns, flamethrowers and
even a frag grenade had minimal effect on the host as well as the
parasite, which continued to search for ways to get its pincers on its
attackers.

During today’s activities we lost two more security guards and another
research aid – but they were sacrifices worth making as they revealed
another offensive weapon the “parasite zombie” has at its disposal.

As these three entered the cell, the parasite began spraying a strange
substance onto them – an acrid bile that instantly slowed their progress
as they began coughing and gasping for air. With its perceived threat
incapacitated it was only a matter of seconds before the unfortunate
trio lay dead.

This spray attack also had another characteristic however. We noticed
that while the three guinea pigs were covered in the bile, all of our
test subjects in nearby holding areas became extremely agitated,
throwing themselves against the wall closest to the bile-covered trio in
order to break through and get to them. It was also noted by some of my
colleagues that they did this with an urgency and strength not usually
noted.

It seems that this substance, whatever it proves to be, has some kind of
stimulating effect on other B.O.W.s and is of course something we need
to study further.

Umbrella B.O.W Files: Web Spinner

 Classification
B.O.W. Model: "Web Spinner"
Base Organism: Unknown (various)
Category: Arachnid / Tarantula
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Arachnida
Order: Araneae
Suborder: Mygalomorphae
Family: Theraphosidae
Subfamily: Ornithoctoninae
Genus: Haplopelma
Species: ???
Traits
Length: 200-300cm
Height: 60cm
Width [including legs]: 200cm

The "Web Spinner" is a B.O.W. based on large-size venomous spiders, developed by the Umbrella Corporation during early experiments with the t-virus in an attempt to find a viable B.O.W. base.

History

The Web Spinner was an early B.O.W. that was developed after researchers at the Arklay Laboratory noted the dramatic growth effects of the t-virus on regular spiders accidentally infected with it. After this discovery was made the Arklay B.O.W. research team shifted its focus to naturally larger spiders and the effects the virus would have upon a tarantula. It was under consideration as a B.O.W. due to its movement capabilities which allowed it to reach virtually anywhere, making it an excellent weapon. However their limited intelligence and inability to understand commands over it drastically reduced their effectiveness as a weapon.

A mutated form of the Web Spinner known as the "Black Tiger" based on red-kneed tarantulas was also recorded. A cousin of the Web Spinner optimized for hot and humid environments was later developed by Umbrella based on a South American jumping spider; the Jumping Maneater. "Wild" Web Spinners can be found in the form of the Giant Spider - since the virus exhibits great stability and adaptability between most spider species, there is very little difference.

Attributes
Web Spinners showed great potential as a B.O.W. due to their natural spider mobility, being able to climb on walls and ceilings with ease and attack with their acidic venom. This mobility also allowed it to disperse the t-virus to places other creatures cannot, and over a wider radius. However their lack of intelligence and capacity to follow orders greatly limited their potential, rendering them almost useless as weapons due to their inability to adhere to commands. Their primary method of attack is the use of their highly acidic venom,
as the virus ironically took away their ability to spin webs.

EXCERPT FROM NE-BETA PARASITE LABORATORY TESTS (CODENAME: NE-β)

DAY 22
Again the parasite has surprised us.
One of our armed security men accompanied one of my colleagues into the
parasite’s cell to retrieve some tissue samples. What happened next
shocked us all. The parasite-humanoid appeared to wait until they were a
couple of steps into the cell before it made an aggressive maneuver
towards them – almost running.

Before the security guard had chance to

react, the parasitically-bonded specimen had lifted him off his feet and
hurled him against the bars.
My colleague was just as unfortunate, as the parasite’s pincers tore the
top half of her body from the bottom.
Unbelievable. The “parasite zombie” was demonstrably faster and stronger
than its zombie host or the parasite itself.
Tomorrow we shall try to remove the parasite from the zombie to
understand how it can animate the specimen so effectively.
